About 70,000 Palestinian worshipers performed Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem, December 16.
Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, 1948-occupied Palestine, and occupied Jerusalem succeeded in reaching the holy site and attending the Friday sermon and prayers despite the Israeli occupation restrictions, according to Palestinian Waqf.
Every Friday, thousands of Palestinians stream to the Al-Aqsa mosque, the world’s third-holiest site for Muslims to attend the prayers and recite the Holy Quran.
As part of a decades-old accord between Jordan and the Israeli occupation, non-Muslims are not allowed to perform any religious rituals inside the confines of Al-Aqsa Mosque, nor are Israeli symbols allowed to be displayed.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Israeli well-armed forces deployed in Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards to guard colonial settlers’ incursions into Muslim holy sites in the occupied Jerusalem.
Last November, at least 8174 colonial Israeli settelers invaded the courtyards of Al- Aqsa mosque and performed provocative Talmudic rituals in some of its yards, in addition to 90,026 colonial settelers who were present under the pretext of tourism, according to the Public Relations and Media Unit in Jerusalem.
