Israeli Supreme Court Postpones Consideration of Evacuating Khan Al-Ahmar
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Israeli Supreme Court agreed Monday, October 3rd, 2022 to a request by a representative of the so-called occupying state, “to postpone the consideration of the issue of evacuating the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar, east of occupied Jerusalem.

The Hebrew Ynet website indicated that the decision to postpone was issued to the first of February 2023, that is, after the Knesset elections that will take place next November, and until a new government is formed.

The Regavim settlement movement considered that the postponement of the decision on the petition submitted by it constitutes a surrender.

This happened especially since the current transitional government is working to sign a gas agreement with Lebanon, while it has delayed evacuating the village, against which a demolition order has been issued since 2009.

The judges of the court considered that they had no choice but to deal with the request of the representative of the “state” due to the electoral circumstances.
