The Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs Hatem Al-Bakri revealed on Thursday, 29 September 2022 that Israeli occupation forces and settlers attacked 15 mosques, since the beginning of 2022.
In a statement, Al-Bakri clarified that Israeli occupation forces and settlers’ violations aimed to allow colonial settlers’ offenses without any controls or restrictions, even on the substance of religious holy sites and mosques, pushing the region into a religious war whose results cannot be determined for the entire region.
In Bethlehem, the Israeli occupation notified of the demolition of a 220-square meters mosque under construction in the town of Nahalin in addition to a minaret through an administrative decision, a report by the Public Relations and Information Department of the Ministry of Endowments documented.
IOF prohibited the Palestinian worshipers from performing prayers in the Al-Hamidiya Mosque in the town of Al-Khader or carrying out restoration work on the site, claiming that it is an archaeological area.
In Tulkarm, Israeli occupation troops stormed the old Kafr Abush mosque accompanied by the Israeli occupation Antiquities Authority and photographed the interior parts of the whole mosque.
In Salfit, the Israeli occupation handed a stop-work order against a mosque in the village of Marda. Israeli forces notified to stop the ongoing restoration work in the shrine of the Prophet Saleh in the town of Tarqumiya even though the restoration work has been underway at the site for several months to preserve the historical, archaeological, and religious landmark.
In Hebron, Israeli troops suspended work in a mosque in the village of Khashem Al-Karm, southeast of Yatta.
The Public Relations and Information Department of the Ministry of Endowments report documented that Israeli settlers burned the entrance to the Ebad al-Rahman mosque in Zita Jama’in, in the city of Nablus, causing damage to its carpet.
Israeli occupation bulldozers demolished a mosque in the southern Arab Ramadin community in Qalqilya.
Colonial Israeli settlers attacked the town of Urif and smashed the windows of the Rabat mosque. They also wreaked havoc in the Al-Taqwa mosque and Al-Qazzaz Mosque in Masafer Yatta South of Hebron, after it was desecrated and searched by the Israeli occupation troops.
The report indicated that large numbers of Israeli settlers stormed the vicinity of the Nabi Younis Mosque in the city of Halhul guarded by the Israeli occupation well-armed forces who occupied the rooftops surrounding the mosque.
IOF attacked Salah El-Din Mosque in Abu Dis and vandalized its contents, causing much damage.
Colonial Israeli settlers defiled the Sunni mosque in the old city of Hebron by throwing wine bottles in its courtyards.
The Al-Zawiya Al-Amiriya Mosque reported that Israeli occupation forces closed its entrance and placed an Israeli military checkpoint adjacent to it.
In 2021, the Public Relations and Information Department of the Ministry of Endowments recorded attacks on more than 10 mosques in the occuiped West Bank by the Israeli occupation forces and settelers, in addition to dozens in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli aggressions.
