Israel Occupation Temporarily Freezes Awawdeh`s Detention

Israeli occupation court on Friday night, August 19, freezes the administrative detention order of the Palestinian detainee Khalil Awawdeh after 161 days of hunger strike.

Head of Palestinian Prisoners Club Qadoura Raed reported that the Israeli decision of freezing Awawdeh’s detention is not the same as ending his imprisonment.

However, on his debut after the Israeli decision, Awawdeh appeared lying on the hospital bed in a tragic health condition, stressing that he would “continue his hunger strike until he obtains freedom.

“I renew my respect for the Palestinian people who supported me”, Awawdeh said, stressing that he will continue the hunger strike until a final decision is issued to release him.

Awawdeh, 40, from al-Khalil, is on a hunger strike to protest his administrative detention without charge or trial. He is a father of four daughters. Awawdeh briefly stopped his strike on the 111th day, when he was told an agreement had been reached to secure his release.

Instead of releasing him, the Israeli occupation court extended his detention. Thus, he re-launched his hunger strike.

Awawdeh has been completely denied family visits and routinely denied legal visits. He has been suffering from serious health conditions due to a hunger strike.
