Director of the Department of Statistics at the Palestinian Committee for Prisoners and Freed Prisoners Abdul-Nasser Farawana said the occupation refused to respond to the calls of human rights and health organisations to provide proper medication to prisoners to save their lives.
Since 1967, Israel did not exclude the wounded, sick and people with disabilities from arrest, and kept arresting thousands of handicapped Palestinians in its notorious prisons, Farwana added.
A recent statement for the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club (PPC) said that there are around 600 sick Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails, including 160 suffering serious diseases.
Another report by the Palestinian Committee for Prisoners and Freed Prisoners said that the Israeli occupation arrested 85,000 Palestinians since September 28, 2000.
