Days of Palestine, Jerusalem –Israeli Jewish settlers with senior rabbis stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday morning and attacked Palestinian worshipers.
Witnesses counted 28 settlers passing through Al-Magharbeh Gate heading to the Sanctuary Yards of the Mosque. They settlers included a number of senior Jewish rabbis.
A big number of Israeli police escorted the settlers to secure their tour around the Mosque and performance of fictitious Talmudic rituals.
Palestinian worshippers attempted to prevent them from accessing certain areas inside the Mosque, but the police attacked them and arrested at least two, including a woman.
Informed sources identified the woman, who was arrested, as SAmiha Shahin from the Old City of Jerusalem. “She was led to Al-Qashleh investigation centre,” the sources said.
Activist Anas Ghanayim saod that the Israeli occupation forces arrested Abdullah Shimi from Al-Khalil when he was entering into Al-Aqsa Mosque from Al-Silsilah Gate.
“The Israeli occupation forces told Shimi that he was banned from entering into the Mosque,” Ghanayim said. “When he wanted to ask why he was banned, they violently beat him.”
For about two months, the Israeli occupation authorities have been imposing strict restrictions on the entrance of the Palestinian worshipers into Al-Aqsa Mosque.
At the same time, they gave the extremist Jewish settlers and their rabbis the freedom to desecrate it under police and army protection.
These measures come in the context of official Israeli plans to partition the Mosque, specifying certain times and locations for Muslims and Jewish settlers. An Arab Knesset member revealed these plans a couple of days ago.
