Days of Palestine, Doha –Chief of Palestinian Movement Hamas Khalid Mesh’al and Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas meet with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim on Thursday.
The three leaders discussed several issues regarding the Palestinian situation, including the Israeli war on Gaza, the Palestinian national reconciliation and the future of the PA in Gaza.
Hamas sources described the meeting as “positive,” and said they are to hold another meeting on Friday at 1pm, Doha time.
Gaza-based Hamas Spokesman Mosheer al-Masri said that the “legitimate Palestinian demands” were discussed in Doha.
Senior Hamas leader Musa abu-Marzouq said that Friday’s meeting would also discuss the Palestinian demands to reach a ceasefire with the Israeli occupation, including the end of the eight-year old siege on Gaza.
Several media reports said that the meetings of the Palestinian leaders in Doha with Sheikh Tamim are connected to international call for Qatar and Turkey to mediate a ceasefire between Hamas and the Israeli occupation after the failure of the Egyptian mediation.
