DayofPal– At least 91 Palestinians have been killed since dawn today after Israeli forces targeted aid seekers waiting for humanitarian aid at the Meraj and Zikim distribution points in the Gaza Strip.
Medical sources confirmed that more than 30 people were killed and hundreds injured, many critically, inly in the Zikim area northwest of Gaza, near the Al-Sudaniya neighborhood.
Victims were reportedly waiting for desperately needed food and supplies when Israeli gunfire erupted.
Martyrs and wounded were also reported after the Israeli army attacked aid seekers at the Meraj axis north of Rafah.
Over the past 24 hours, 69 aid-seekers have died from injuries sustained in similar attacks, and more than 495 have been wounded. The total number of Palestinians killed while trying to access humanitarian aid has now reached 1,248, with 8,552 injured, according to hospital reports.
The death toll from Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, has now surpassed 60,138, with at least 146,269 wounded.
Since the Israeli army resumed its offensive following the collapse of a ceasefire on March 18, 2024, Gaza has seen an additional 8,970 deaths and 34,228 injuries.
Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that Gaza is facing catastrophic levels of hunger, lack of medical care, and infrastructure collapse, making aid distribution centers lifelines for the besieged population.
Today’s attack adds to mounting concerns over the safety of civilians trying to survive amid one of the most protracted and devastating military campaigns in recent history.
International calls for an immediate ceasefire and accountability continue to grow, as images of bloodied aid seekers and overwhelmed hospitals flood global media.
