A new massacre has just unfolded in Rafah city as Israeli occupation army targeted displaced citizens’ tents near UNRWA barracks in Tel Sultan, west of Rafah, in the southern Gaza enclave, on Sunday May 26th, 2024.
Civil Defence reported that a large number of people, nearly 60, were killed and dozens wounded as a result of Israel’s targeting a tent camp for the displaced people near the UNRWA barracks west of Rafah.
Horrifying images and footages have shown bodies of tens of families are severely burned and children’s charred bodies are beyond recognition, following multiple Israeli missiles being dropped on their barracks.
The attack came just hours after the Israeli Knesset approved the preliminary reading designating UNRWA as a “terrorist organization”.
Witnesses said at least 8 heavy missiles were dropped on the tents’ camp in Tel Sultan, which the Israeli army declared it previously as a “safe zone” and to which it pushed people to move.
Civil Defence in Gaza said the area targeted by Israel’s heavy strikes incubates at least 100,000 displaced people.
20 days ago, Israeli army launched a ground invasion in Rafah despite wide concerns and world rejection, leading to displace the already displaced people and the killing of hundreds civilians.
In the same time, at least four Palestinians have just been killed in Al-Nuseirate camp, in the middle of the enclave, and efforts are still exerted to pull out more dead bodies from under the rubble of the house of Al-Ghusein family.
Local sources said among the injuries are a number of children resulted from Israel’s bombing of Tabaza family house in Block C area in Al-Nuseirate.
Earlier this day, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said that on day 233 of the Israeli genocide, the Israeli army committed ten massacres against families in the Gaza enclave, killing at least 150 Palestinians and injuring more than 250 others. Death toll has risen to 35,995 martyrs and 80,663 injuries since the seventh of last October.
