Gaza: At least 23 killed as Israeli military strikes continue

DaysofPal- Israeli occupation forces have escalated their operations in the towns and villages of Jenin Governorate since the beginning of the aggression against the city and its camp 73 days ago. This morning, Israeli forces stormed Burqin, a town located west of Jenin in the northern West Bank, marking the latest in a series of military incursions.

Local sources reported that Israeli military vehicles, accompanied by a bulldozer, raided the town at dawn. They also targeted the home of freed prisoner Sultan Khalouf, as drones flew overhead, adding to the intense surveillance and pressure on the town’s residents.

The death toll in Jenin has now risen to 37, according to the Media Committee in Jenin. This includes two individuals killed by the Palestinian Authority’s security services, as well as Omar Zeyoud, who was shot dead by Israeli forces during clashes on Wednesday evening in the town of Saliya Al-Harithiya.

The committee further reported that the Israeli military arrested several young men from Rummana town, including freed prisoners Abdullah Subaihat and Muhammad Faraj Subaihat. These actions are part of an ongoing series of raids and arrests across the region.

Israeli occupation forces have continued to push military reinforcements into Jenin city and its refugee camp, deploying armored vehicles and foot soldiers in strategic areas such as Al-Ghabz and Wadi Burqin.

The IOF are reportedly building and widening roads, altering the camp’s landscape, and demolishing homes. These actions have severely disrupted life in the area, contributing to the growing humanitarian crisis.

Military exercises are, meanwhile, taking place near the Jalameh military checkpoint, located north of Jenin, with live bullets being fired intermittently in the vicinity of Jenin camp, which has been left largely abandoned by its residents due to the ongoing assault.

Jenin’s mayor, Mohammad Jarrar, highlighted the mounting humanitarian challenges facing the governorate. Over 21,000 people are now displaced, adding to the tens of thousands who have already been forced from their homes.

The siege imposed by Israeli forces on the governorate, which has a population of approximately 360,000, has exacerbated these difficulties. It is estimated that 600 homes have been destroyed in Jenin camp, alongside widespread damage to infrastructure.

The continued Israeli aggression is part of a broader policy of escalation in the West Bank, aimed at intensifying repression against Palestinians. The Israeli military’s actions, including arrests, demolitions, and forced displacements, are viewed as efforts to assert control over the land and push forward plans to Judaize the region.
