DaysofPal – The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised alarms over Israeli restrictions at the Kerem Abu Salem crossing, which are preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. On Saturday, March 14, 2026, the organization reported that no medicines or medical supplies were allowed through, with shipments limited solely to fuel.
WHO teams on site had unloaded aid shipments at the crossing, including approximately 50 intensive care beds and 170 consignments of medicines, but were not permitted to collect them. According to the weekly schedule, no incoming supplies will be cleared at the crossing on Saturday or Sunday.
Kerem Abu Salem remains the only crossing open into Gaza since the regional escalation began. The WHO emphasized that daily communication with Israeli authorities aims to secure the entry of critical humanitarian supplies to meet urgent needs of the population.
The organization previously highlighted that Gaza’s health system remains extremely fragile. Stocks of essential medicines, surgical supplies, and materials for trauma care are critically low, while fuel shortages continue to limit hospital operations. Only around 200 trucks of aid enter Gaza daily, far short of the 600 trucks required to meet the territory’s needs.
WHO called for the entry of additional fuel to maintain hospital operations. Half of Gaza’s 36 hospitals remain closed following the fragile ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in October 2025.
The hospitals that are open face severe difficulties in providing vital services, including surgeries, dialysis, and intensive care.
