DaysofPal- International film star Jackie Chan has spoken emotionally about the suffering of children in Gaza, saying a video of a Palestinian child describing life under bombardment moved him to tears.
In a clip widely circulated on social media, the Chinese actor and martial arts icon is seen addressing an audience in China as he recounts watching a video of a young Palestinian boy speaking about his future amid ongoing violence in Gaza.
Chan said the moment that struck him most was when the child was asked about his dreams for adulthood. “They asked him, ‘What do you wish for when you grow up?’ and he replied, ‘The children here do not grow up,’” Chan told the audience, visibly emotional.
“I cried immediately,” he said.
“Gaza… the children of Gaza are being bombed every day, and you are seeing this with your own eyes.” He added.
Chan added that the boy’s words were delivered calmly, without visible emotion, which made the moment even more devastating.
“When he said that sentence, there was no expression on his face, the children here do not grow up,’” Chan said.
“My God, my tears just fell.” He continued.
The actor’s remarks come amid growing international concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where children have been disproportionately affected by ongoing bombardment, mass displacement, and acute shortages of food, shelter, and medical care.
The video referenced by Chan has been shared widely online, resonating with audiences around the world and prompting renewed calls for the protection of civilians, particularly children, in the besieged Gaza Strip.
