US Journalist: Israeli Propaganda ‘No Longer Works’ as World Sees ‘Reality on the Ground’

BBC: Meta Complicit in Israeli Genocide against Gaza

DaysofPal – US journalist and filmmaker Abby Martin says Israel’s long-standing propaganda narrative has “collapsed,” arguing that global public opinion is increasingly recognizing the reality of Israeli policies and calling for the country’s international isolation.

In an interview with the independent outlet Double Down News, published on 11 April 2026, Martin described Israel as a “fascist state” that has relied heavily on public relations and narrative management but said this strategy is failing in light of the war in Gaza and mounting evidence of rights abuses.

“The world sees Israel for what it is, and it cannot continue like this for much longer,” she said, adding that the state should be treated as a “pariah” on the international stage.

Martin argued that Israel practices apartheid and is committing genocide, likening its conduct to that of a “serial killer” that lies to cover its actions.

She said academics, celebrities and politicians who continue to visit or endorse Israel “should feel ashamed,” noting that talking points such as claims that Israel has “the most moral army in the world” or that “Hamas uses civilians as human shields” are losing credibility.

According to Martin, a key factor behind this shift is the direct documentation of Palestinian experiences through social media.

“For the first time, Palestinians have been able to show the reality they are subjected to with complete clarity,” she said.

“We see settler violence, we see people being shot when they are doing nothing, we see the crimes that are committed every day. You cannot hide this genocide from us.” She added.

She argued that this flood of first-hand images and testimonies has undercut the effectiveness of traditional Israeli messaging and exposed a gap between official narratives and events on the ground.

The comments come against the backdrop of Israel’s ongoing military campaign in the Gaza Strip and a parallel escalation of violence and repression in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since October 2023.

Palestinian officials say that, in the West Bank alone, Israeli forces and settlers have killed more than 1,147 Palestinians and wounded around 11,750 others since October 2023, while approximately 22,000 people have been arrested.

Reported Israeli measures have included lethal force against civilians, home demolitions, property destruction, forced displacement and accelerated settlement expansion in territories the United Nations considers occupied Palestinian land.

In Gaza, despite a formal ceasefire announced in October 2025, local authorities report ongoing Israeli violations and crimes.

Since that ceasefire took effect, at least 738 Palestinians have been killed, 2,036 wounded, and 759 bodies recovered from under the rubble of destroyed buildings, according to figures cited by the Gaza Ministry of Health.
