On Monday evening, May 29, 2023, the US State Department denounced the Israeli decision to allow the rebuilding of a Jewish religious school in the “Homesh” illegal settlement, which is built on Palestinian lands, in the northern West Bank.
“This decision contradicts Ariel Sharon’s commitments to President Bush and contradicts the current -Israeli – government’s commitments to the Joe Biden administration,” the ministry said.
Earlier this morning, Israeli settlers rebuilt a religious school inside the Homesh settlement outpost after it was on its outskirts.
The decision to build this school, which was conducted quickly at dawn today, came after the approval of the Minister of the Israeli occupation army, Yoav Gallant, and the extremist Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich.
Homesh has been at the center of settler efforts to deepen Israeli hold on the northern West Bank. Settlers have long maintained a presence in the outpost despite the 2005 act, setting up tents and other structures on the foundations of former settlement units.
