The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that its crews face difficulties in bringing in the necessary winter supplies to displaced Gazans including plastic sheets, tents, mattresses, mats, blankets, and other basic supplies.
In a press statement published on Tuesday, UNRWA explained that they along with all humanitarian organizations are making every possible effort for the people of Gaza to urgently provide them with the necessary winter supplies despite the great difficulties in bringing these supplies into the enclave.
UNRWA noted that once supplies arrive, they will be immediately distributed to those in need.
UNRWA urgently appealed for an immediate halt to the destruction of homes and shelters, demanding the opening of more crossings to the Gaza Strip to enable humanitarian agencies to deliver basic supplies to thousands of families in need.
Since last Oct. 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, killing and wounding about 135,000 Palestinians, most of them children and women.
More than 10,000 are missing amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens, in one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered a halt to military operations in the southern city of Rafah, where over one million Palestinians had sought refuge before the area was invaded on May 6.
