UNRWA: Palestinians in West Bank Facing Worst Displacement Crisis Since 1967

DaysofPal- The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Saturday that Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are experiencing the worst displacement crisis since the 1967 war, with more than 42,000 people forced from their homes by Israeli forces.

In a brief statement, the agency said the surge in displacement comes amid continued violence by Israeli forces and settlers, depriving thousands of families of safety and stability and deepening the already dire humanitarian situation across the territory.

The warning comes as the Israeli occupation presses forward with measures viewed by Palestinians and international observers as attempts to annex parts of the West Bank and block the establishment of a Palestinian state.

According to UN figures, Israeli authorities have demolished 3,792 homes since October 7, 2023. Of these, 2,986 were destroyed on the grounds of lacking permits, while 85 were leveled as punitive measures.

Hundreds of other homes remain unaccounted for, particularly in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams refugee camps in the northern West Bank, where widespread destruction has left many families without shelter.

The data also shows that since the start of the war up until mid-2025, the Israeli occupation forces have displaced 33 entire communities, comprised 345 Palestinian families, and forced nearly 50,000 residents from northern West Bank camps.

During military operations in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams, large parts of the civilian infrastructure were also destroyed.

Humanitarian agencies have repeatedly warned that escalating demolitions, settlement expansion, and military operations are driving mass displacement in the West Bank, pushing conditions to levels not seen in decades.
