DaysofPal- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has revealed that over 66,000 children in the Gaza Strip are suffering from severe malnutrition, as the Israeli occupation forces continue to enforce a blockade that has choked the flow of food and humanitarian aid into the territory for more than two months.
UNRWA spokesperson Adnan Abu Hasna stated on Tuesday that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are surviving on just one meal every two or three days, a result of the occupation’s systematic closure of all border crossings since March 2.
The Gaza Ministry of Health has reported that 57 people—mostly children—have died from malnutrition-related causes since the escalation began. Officials warn that this number is expected to rise if crossings remain closed and aid continues to be blocked.
Palestinian authorities and UN officials are sounding alarms over the rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis, urging immediate international intervention to reopen crossings and allow the entry of essential supplies, including food, medicine, fuel, and clean water.
The siege on Gaza has not only devastated health and nutrition access but also pushed over two million Palestinians toward famine conditions, particularly affecting the most vulnerable: children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
