Amnesty: Gaza Faces Mass Starvation, Immediate and Permanent Ceasefire Needed

DaysofPal- The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Saturday that children in the Gaza Strip continue to suffer under ongoing airstrikes and the near-total collapse of health, water, and education systems, making daily survival an escalating struggle.

In a statement reviewed by Sanad News Agency, UNICEF said the humanitarian situation in both Gaza and Sudan remains “extremely fragile and deadly for thousands of children,” warning that current conditions reflect a profound international failure to protect the most vulnerable populations in conflict zones.

“These reports demonstrate the scale of global failure in safeguarding children,” the organization said, noting that bombardment, hunger, and disease are converging to create environments that are increasingly unlivable.

UNICEF renewed its call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged the opening of safe humanitarian corridors to allow the delivery of life-saving assistance before it is too late in affected areas, particularly Gaza and Sudan.

Last month, the agency reported that at least 100 children had been killed in Israeli airstrikes and other acts of violence in Gaza since a ceasefire came into effect three months ago.

UNICEF spokesperson James Elder said that more than 100 children have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire began in early October, adding that this amounts to “the death of nearly one boy or girl every day during what was meant to be a period of calm.”

The organization reiterated that without urgent international action, children in Gaza will continue to bear the brunt of violence, deprivation, and the collapse of essential services.
