DaysofPal – The United Nations said Israeli settler attacks in the occupied West Bank have displaced nearly 880 Palestinian families, totaling more than 4,700 people.
UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated on Friday that humanitarian colleagues continue to warn about ongoing violence and coercive practices carried out by Israeli occupation forces and settlers. He said these actions have resulted in casualties, property destruction, and forced displacement across the West Bank.
Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces between February 3 and February 6, according to Dujarric, bringing the total number of Palestinian deaths since the year’s beginning to nine, including two children.
During the same period, at least 86 settler attacks were recorded, injuring more than 60 Palestinians and displacing around 146 others.
The Secretary-General condemned the killing of 19-year-old Nasrallah Abu Siyam, a Palestinian-American, who was shot during a settler attack in the occupied West Bank. Dujarric said three other Palestinians were wounded by settler gunfire in the same incident.
“The Secretary-General expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, including, unfortunately, your colleague Abdul Hamid Siyam. We extend our condolences to him and his family,” Dujarric said.
He added that the Secretary-General calls for an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the incident and accountability for those responsible.
He also urged the Israeli government to take concrete steps to stop and prevent all acts of violence committed by Israeli settlers against the Palestinian population, stressing that this obligation falls on Israel in its capacity as an occupying power.
