DaysofPal—The United Nations (UN) has warned that “Israel” continues to obstruct the entry of humanitarian aid convoys into the Gaza Strip, stressing that such practices are “hindering life-saving operations” amid a deepening humanitarian catastrophe.
UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, said in a press briefing in New York that the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that the Israeli occupation is still blocking aid deliveries.
Dujarric explained that on Sunday, the Israeli occupation rejected 8 out of 15 humanitarian missions requiring coordination and denied the remaining 7 as well.
Dujarric pointed out that the ongoing war in the Strip, along with repeated attacks on health facilities, is causing more civilian casualties and destroying vital infrastructure.
According to UN data, more than 800,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced since the end of the ceasefire in March.
Meanwhile, over half a million people are facing imminent famine, while another 1.07 million, more than half of Gaza’s population, are experiencing emergency levels of acute food insecurity.
The UN agency UNRWA had earlier stressed that the famine in Gaza City could be stopped, and the ongoing disaster reversed, by flooding the area with massive amounts of aid under UN supervision.
Meanwhile, Israeli crimes against civilians continue across the Strip, with massacres ongoing for the 690th consecutive day, amid international silence and the inability of the global community to halt the war.
