DaysofPal- A coalition of 35 independent United Nations human rights experts has issued a strong call for the immediate dismantling of the “GHF,” a nongovernmental organization established by the Israeli occupation in February 2025 with the support of the United States.
The group was created under the pretext of distributing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. However, UN experts warn that the GHF is in “serious breach of international law” and serves as a disturbing example of how humanitarian relief can be manipulated to advance covert military and geopolitical agendas against starving people in Gaza.
In an official statement released by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the experts condemned the operation of GHF, highlighting that since its inception in late May 2025, at least 859 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in the vicinity of GHF sites.
The experts detailed how the GHF has become an instrument in the hands of Israeli forces, who use the promise of aid to lure starving civilians toward distribution points, only to open fire on them.
Videos and eyewitness accounts depict harrowing scenes of desperate crowds, including children and the elderly, rushing toward aid trucks in chaotic, “zombie-like” mobs, only to be met with gunfire and shelling from Israeli snipers and armored vehicles.
These acts have turned moments of hope into bloodshed, with civilians caught in deadly crossfire, killing moments just for joy by Israeli soldiers.
Calling the organization “humanitarian” is, the experts say, a cynical attempt to cloak Israeli military operations in a humanitarian disguise, a “blatant insult to the principles and standards of humanitarian work.”
The experts further emphasized that this policy deliberately deprives the most vulnerable groups in Gaza of essential life-sustaining resources.
Thousands of children, orphans, widows, the elderly, the hungry, as well as thousands of injured individuals and medical personnel, have been systematically denied access to adequate food, water, and medical supplies.
This neglect has led to widespread suffering, hunger, and a “slow death” under an oppressive siege and selective distribution system that humiliates and punishes civilians, all imposed by the Israeli forces.
In their urgent appeal, the UN experts called on governments worldwide to take immediate and decisive action by imposing a full and comprehensive arms embargo on Israel, suspending all trade and investment agreements that contribute to harming the Palestinian population, and holding corporate entities accountable for any complicity in supporting or benefiting from Israeli occupation and military genocide.
They warned that the ongoing use of starvation and violence as weapons against the civilian population amounts to a crime against humanity, requiring an immediate international investigation and full legal accountability.
The experts concluded by underscoring that the continuation of these policies and practices is a “stain on the conscience of the international community” and an urgent matter that demands global attention and justice.
