At least 274 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on 21 shelter schools in the Gaza Strip since 4 July according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
In a statement, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated that more than half of the schools used as shelters by displaced Palestinians in Gaza have been directly targeted over the past ten months. It stressed the “urgent need” for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The UN statement follows the recent massacre in Al-Tabi’in School in which more than 100 Palestinians were killed and hundreds more were injured in an Israeli air strike that targeted worshippers during dawn prayers.
