An Israeli minister has asserted that the Palestinian people do not exist as the nation’s latest, most extreme coalition government continues to move forward with its plan to transform the judicial system.
In Paris, Bezalel Smotrich, the Israeli finance minister, proclaimed that the notion of a Palestinian nation was fabricated.
He said during a speech in France on Sunday that Palestinians do not possess a nation, history, or language of their own. The podium he was standing at was adorned with a map of “Israel” that included the West Bank and certain regions of Jordan.
The UAE has strongly denounced the remarks made by Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich in which he denied the existence of the Palestinian people.
The UAE expressed strong disapproval of the utilization of a map of “Israel” that included both Jordanian lands of the Hashemite Kingdom and occupied Palestinian territories.
Smotrich, a settler leader on the far-right who has long been against the formation of a Palestinian state, has made many controversial remarks about the Palestinians. Just last month, he suggested that the Palestinian town of Hawara in the West Bank should be destroyed in response to the terrorist actions of radical Jewish settlers.
The most recent outbursts of aggression, together with Smotrich’s words, show how difficult it will be to ease the conflict following a year of fatal violence in the West Bank and Jerusalem, wherein more than 200 Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces.
