DaysofPal- Military tensions between the United States and Iran escalated sharply early Thursday as both sides announced new operations and countermeasures, raising concerns about a renewed confrontation across the Gulf region.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that American forces had completed a new series of military operations inside Iranian territory. According to the statement, precision-guided munitions were used to strike what Washington described as sites posing a direct threat to U.S. forces and maritime navigation. The targets reportedly included military surveillance systems, communications infrastructure, and air defense installations located across various parts of Iran.

CENTCOM also confirmed carrying out additional strikes deeper inside Iranian territory, signaling a possible expansion of the scope of U.S. military operations.

Political Pressure and Diplomatic Messaging

Alongside the military developments, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that he had held direct communications with Iranian officials. He said American fighter jets had flown over Iranian airspace and that 49 Tomahawk missiles had been launched against targets inside Iran. Trump further asserted that Iranian officials had requested a halt to the bombardment and predicted that military operations would soon come to an end.

Iran, however, categorically rejected those claims. Iranian state television quoted a senior official as saying that the statements were intended to distract from the ongoing escalation. Meanwhile, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported that no such communications had taken place and warned that Tehran remained prepared to respond militarily to the attacks.

Trump also threatened to resume bombing operations if Iran refused to sign a proposed agreement. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth echoed the administration’s position, stating that Washington would continue conducting powerful strikes on its own terms in full coordination with the White House and the negotiating team.

Hegseth said the military operations were intended to strengthen both the United States’ military and diplomatic position while increasing pressure on Tehran to accept an agreement. He added that Washington was prepared to intensify its campaign if what it described as Iranian stalling continued, noting that the target list was being continuously updated based on intelligence assessments.

Air Defenses Activated and Naval Tensions Rise

On the ground, Iranian media reported explosions in several locations, including areas near Kish Island and in the provinces of Fars and Hormozgan. Air defense systems were reportedly activated at multiple sites, although authorities did not confirm the nature of the targets involved.

Iranian sources also reported continuing confrontations in Gulf waters and the Sea of Oman, while U.S. officials denied that any direct naval clashes had occurred.

Iranian forces announced that they had launched missile and drone attacks targeting American military facilities, including radar installations, air defense systems, and military bases across the Gulf. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) further said that it had forced a U.S. fighter jet to withdraw after engaging it.

In a significant development, Iranian military authorities announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and threatened to target any vessel attempting to pass through the strategic waterway. Attacks on two ships in the strait were also attributed by Iranian officials.

The U.S. military rejected those assertions, maintaining that maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained unaffected and that shipping operations were continuing normally.
