The Turkish foreign ministry has issued a strong condemnation against the Israeli occupation following provocative actions by Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. The ministry characterized Ben-Gvir’s actions as “provocation” and called on Israel to cease such activities that escalate tensions in the region.
“The Turkish foreign ministry condemned the ‘provocation’ carried out by Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound,” stated the ministry in a formal announcement.
Furthermore, Turkey criticized the Israeli parliament’s recent resolution, which denies the right to Palestinian statehood. The ministry dismissed the resolution as “null and void,” emphasizing that it underscores Israel’s disregard for international law and agreements.
“The establishment of an independent, sovereign, and geographically continuous Palestinian State on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is a requirement of international law,” the Turkish foreign ministry asserted.
This statement from Turkey comes amidst heightened tensions in the region and underscores its longstanding position in support of Palestinian statehood and rights.
