DaysofPal- The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club has recorded more than 23,000 arrest cases in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, highlighting a sharp escalation in Israeli crackdown measures across Palestinian territories.
In a report released today, the organization said the figure includes all individuals who were detained, whether they remain in custody or were later released. It also covers those arrested during home raids, at military checkpoints, or under pressure to surrender, in addition to cases involving hostage-like detention.
The report detailed that over 700 women have been arrested during this period. The total includes women from the West Bank, Palestinians holding Israeli citizenship from within the 1948 territories, and women from Gaza who were detained in the West Bank.
Children have also been heavily affected. Around 1,800 minors were documented among those arrested. The report further noted the detention of more than 240 journalists, with 43 still held in custody, including three female reporters. It also confirmed the death of journalist Marwan Harzallah from Nablus while in Israeli detention.
According to the findings, arrest campaigns are accompanied by a rise in violations. These include severe beatings, threats directed at detainees and their families, and widespread destruction of homes. Property seizures have also been reported, including vehicles, cash, and gold.
The report pointed to extensive damage to infrastructure, particularly in refugee camps in the northern West Bank such as Tulkarm and Jenin. Field interrogations have affected thousands of Palestinians across these areas.
It added that these arrest operations coincide with incidents of field killings, in some cases targeting relatives of detainees. The situation reflects a broader escalation across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
