DaysofPal- A group of extremist settlers kidnapped and brutally attacked a Palestinian citizen from the town of Ash-Shuyukh, located east of Hebronm, on Monday evening.
The victim, identified as Dhiyab Nimr Awda Al-Halayqa, 48, was abducted from a quarry in the Al-Za’fran area where he was working.
Ashraf Al-Halayqa, a resident of the area, detailed the incident, stating: “Several settlers from the Asfar settlement, built on the town’s lands, stormed a quarry in the Al-Za’fran area, detained the workers there, and searched their cell phones before kidnapping the worker, Dhiyab Nimr Awda Al-Halayqa, 48 years old, and taking him to the settlement above.”
Al-Halayqa further explained that the settlers, in their presence and with the participation of Israeli occupation forces, severely beat the abducted worker. Following the assault, the settlers left Dhiyab Al-Halayqa near a military checkpoint east of Hebron. The victim was found suffering from extensive bruises, contusions, and bleeding wounds. He was subsequently transferred by ambulance to the Hebron Governmental Hospital for treatment.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of escalating violence in the occupied territories. According to data issued by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the Israeli army and settlers committed 1,396 attacks against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank and Jerusalem during November 2024 alone.
In a related development, the Israeli occupation forces launched a widespread arrest campaign across various parts of the West Bank on
Tuesday.
Additionally, reports indicated that another Palestinian citizen sustained fractures and bruises on Monday evening after being severely beaten by settlers in a separate incident near Hebron.
The cities and towns of the West Bank have become hotspots of daily raids conducted by the Israeli army and settlers.
These raids frequently result in the death or injury of Palestinians, as well as arrests and the destruction of public and private property. The situation is compounded by ongoing aggression in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli military operations and settler violence in the West Bank have claimed 835 lives and left approximately 6,700 wounded, according to official Palestinian data.
