DayofPal– A commander from Sarab Unit belonging to Saraya Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, said that the only one responsible for the killing of Israeli prisoner Oded Lifshitz is Netanyahu and his army.
Speaking to Al Jazeera Mubasher on Thursday, ahead of the handover of four Israeli prisoners’ bodies, the commander stated, “Oded was alive and in good health, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his extremist Nazi government insisted on killing the captives. We had hoped he would remain alive.”
The commander provided new details about Lifshitz’s death, explaining that Israeli forces had identified movements of Sarab Unit fighters, responsible for securing prisoners, and deliberately targeted them with airstrikes.
“During one of the enemy’s invasions, the Israeli forces spotted our fighters moving. They intentionally bombed them,” he said.
“Oded was wounded in the attack and was only bleeding. When one of our fighters tried to save him, Israeli aircraft bombed them again, killing both the captive and his captor.”
The commander sent a strong message to the Israeli government, warning that if Netanyahu insists on continuing the war, Israeli prisoners “will return in coffins.”
“No force in the world will be able to recover their captives through military pressure,” he added.
On Thursday morning, Palestinian resistance forces in Gaza handed over the bodies of four Israeli prisoners to the Red Cross. They had been taken alive during the October 7 operation but were reportedly killed in Israeli attacks.
According to markings on the coffins during the handover, the four captives were killed in November 2023.
