DaysofPal- Several members of militias linked to Israeli occupation forces were killed and others injured on Monday following an ambush carried out by Palestinian resistance fighters in the city of Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip.
Local sources reported that three vehicles carrying militia members infiltrated the central area of the city near Abu Hamid roundabout. Resistance security units detected the movement and engaged the group. One vehicle was struck directly with a projectile, setting it ablaze and causing casualties among those inside.
Clashes erupted shortly after the initial strike. Israeli aircraft and drones quickly intervened to secure the withdrawal of surviving militia members. Helicopters reportedly opened fire, supported by artillery shelling in the surrounding area.
Footage and images captured by residents in the vicinity showed a burning vehicle and individuals fleeing the scene. Sounds of gunfire and ongoing clashes could be heard in the background.
The incident follows earlier acknowledgments from Israeli sources regarding coordination with armed groups operating in Gaza. In October, a senior Israeli security official told the Hebrew newspaper Maariv that the military and the Shin Bet security service maintain contact with militias acting against Hamas in Gaza.
According to the official, these groups have been allowed to position themselves in areas under Israeli control, referred to as zones east of the so-called “yellow line.”
The official added that Israeli forces protect various means, including targeting Hamas units pursuing those militias. The source described these groups as a potential alternative to Hamas governance in Gaza.
