DaysofPal- Dozens of Israeli settlers stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Monday morning under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, according to local Palestinian sources in Jerusalem.
The sources reported that 96 settlers entered the Al-Aqsa compound during the morning incursion period, escorted by heavily armed Israeli forces.
They added that groups of settlers performed Talmudic rituals inside the compound, while Israeli police forces were deployed extensively around the mosque and in the surrounding Old City.
In recent days, calls have intensified by extremist Temple groups urging settlers to carry out mass incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and to raise Israeli flags inside the compound during what Israel refers to as “Independence Day,” expected later this week.
In response, Jerusalemite activists and religious figures have issued widespread calls for Palestinians to gather in and around Al-Aqsa, maintain a continuous presence, and thwart the Israeli plans to change the status quo at the holy site.
