DaysofPal- At least 27 civilians were killed, and numerous others were injured, in a series of deadly airstrikes carried out by Israeli occupation forces throughout the Gaza Strip last night and into the early hours of Wednesday, according to local sources.
Among the victims were members of the Hattab family, who were killed in an Israeli airstrike on their home in the al-Sabra neighborhood, located in southern Gaza City.
Israeli warplanes also targeted other parts of Gaza, including a tent and multiple locations in the al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City.
The deadliest of the strikes took place in the Khan Yunis and al-Muharrarat areas of southern Gaza, where four tents were destroyed in separate attacks. Ten civilians were killed in these bombings, including a child and a pregnant woman. Many others were injured, some critically, as the violence continued to ravage the region.
The attacks also targeted residential areas, with a house belonging to the Abul-Rous family in Deir al-Balah, a central Gaza area, being hit by an Israeli missile.
In the al-Bureij refugee camp, Israeli artillery bombarded an apartment building, while homes in Rafah, also in southern Gaza, were struck.
Israeli planes also dropped leaflets over various parts of Gaza, telling people to leave their homes in Abasan al-Kabira, Khuza’a, east of Khan Yunis, and Beit Hanoun, north of the Gaza Strip.
At least 16 civilians were killed during the overnight strikes, according to medical sources. The two-month-old ceasefire was broken by a surprise attack on Tuesday, which killed 429 Palestinians and injured 562, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The casualties came from various regions, including Khan Younis, Rafah, Gaza City, and Deir el-Balah.
The majority of the victims in these recent Israeli attacks were women and children, according to Gaza’s health ministry, with fears growing that the death toll could increase as many people remain trapped under rubble or in critical condition. The airstrikes also reportedly killed one Israeli captive and injured others.
The Islamic Jihad Movement also reported the death of Naji Abu Saif, also known as “Abu Hamza,” its military spokesperson, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday.
The Islamic Jihad Movement expressed its pride in Abu Hamza’s killing, describing him as a leader of immense importance to their cause. In a statement, the movement confirmed that the airstrike also targeted Abu Hamza’s family and his brother’s family, underscoring the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict on Palestinian families.
“With great pride and honor, the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine announces to our great Palestinian people and the Arab and Islamic nations the killing of leader Naji Abu Saif Abu Hamza,” the movement said in its statement.
Abu Hamza was “assassinated by the criminal army in a treacherous attack that also targeted his family and the family of his brother,” the Movement continued.
