DaysofPal- The Palestinian Prisoners’ Association has called for urgent international intervention to secure the release of three pregnant Palestinian detainees currently held in harsh conditions inside Damon Prison.
In a statement issued on Monday, the association held Israeli occupation fully responsible for the fate of the three women: Amina Al-Taweel, Dana Joudeh, and Manar Ibrahim.
The group noted that they are among 93 female detainees still in custody, most of whom are being held in Damon Prison under extremely difficult and inhumane conditions.
According to the statement, Amina Shaher Al-Taweel, 37, from Qalqilya, is four months pregnant and a mother of four. She was arrested on March 18, 2026, on allegations of “incitement” and remains in detention.
Dana Anad Joudeh, 35, from Nablus, is five months pregnant and a mother of one child. She was detained on April 18, 2026, and placed under administrative detention for six months. Meanwhile, Manar Ibrahim Ibrahim, 28, from Ramallah, is four months pregnant and a mother of two.
She was arrested on April 30, 2026, also on allegations related to social media activity, and remains in custody.
The association said that, based on legal visits and testimonies from released detainees, prison authorities have intensified punitive and retaliatory measures against female detainees in recent months.
These measures reportedly include systematic abuse, humiliation, starvation policies, and continuous repression.
It stressed that pregnant detainees are not exempt from these practices, despite their medical condition. Some have reportedly been subjected to harsh interrogations and held in cells lacking basic health standards, with no special medical care provided.
This has led to deteriorating physical and psychological conditions, including weight loss, exhaustion, and severe fatigue.
The statement also highlighted that detainees are typically transferred to Damon Prison after undergoing interrogation and temporary detention in Hasharon Prison, where they reportedly face degrading treatment, including forced strip searches.
The association emphasized that the continued detention of pregnant women under such conditions constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention, which obligates occupying powers to provide special care for pregnant women and protect them from inhumane treatment.
It called on international human rights organizations and United Nations bodies, including special rapporteurs and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to take immediate and serious action to ensure the release of the pregnant detainees and to provide them with international protection.
The association further urged the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities and to move beyond the state of inaction, calling for accountability for violations against detainees.
It is worth noting that more than 765 Palestinian women have been detained since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli genocidal war, including minors and elderly women from various professional and social backgrounds.
Many were detained under administrative detention or on allegations of incitement, which are a widely used tool of repression by Israeli occupation forces.
