Palestinian Journalists Protection Center (PJPC) has condemned the deliberate killing of journalists Ismail Al-Ghoul and Rami Al-Reefi in an Israeli airstrike that targeted them while on duty covering the assassination of Has political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh.
Initial reports revealed that Al-Ghoul and Al-Reefi, along with other journalists, were covering the wreckage of the home of Hamas’ political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in the Shati refugee camp before they were targeted.
Journalist Ismail Al-Ghoul worked as a correspondent for Al Jazeera news channel in Gaza City, while Rami Al-Reefi served as a photojournalist for the same channel for several months during the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.
“We affirm the urgent need for immediate international intervention to halt the unprecedented Israeli targeting of journalists in Gaza,” PJPC reported.
It considered the continued silence on these massacres as a green light for further crimes against Palestinian journalists.
