DaysofPal- The Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip, particularly residents of Jabalia refugee camp, have been enduring a severe Israeli campaign of bombardment and military invasion by Israeli occupation forces a week ago, which have claimed the lives of nearly 250 civilians, including women and children, and left hundreds more injured.
Despite the ongoing killings and the starvation campaign, along with the bombardment of homes, the residents of northern Gaza refused to leave their homes.
The Israeli occupation forces have been engaging in random killings, bombings, and psychological warfare against Palestinians, aiming to force their immediate evacuation to the southern Gaza Strip.
However, some Palestinians who initially heeded these threats came under live fire and bombings, pushing the rest to remain in their homes.
Alaa, a Palestinian mother of two children who were killed in the ongoing bombing of Jabalia, said:
“I prefer to die than leave the North and move away. Where exactly should I go in the South? We saw displaced people being targeted there as well. I wish they had chosen to stay with us instead of moving. If their fate was sealed, they would have died in their own homes. But what can we say? It is God’s will.”
Alaa said she is not in a good condition, and she is tired and exhausted, feeling betrayed by the Arab nation, which left her people to be slaughtered and exterminated over a whole year.
I don’t know much about the Israeli-declared displacement plan. The internet isn’t helping me browse or search for information. But no matter how much they plan, threaten, bomb, or drop missiles, we will not leave the North. It’s either we stay or we die.”
Alaa expressed her suffering, saying, “I lost my home during this war, and at least 50 members of my family were killed. I was moving from one place to another. We never expected to live like this, but we can only endure and be patient. We have already endured so much, and with God’s will, there is only a little left to bear.”
The Israeli occupation forces imposed a tight siege on the Jabalia camp and the northern Gaza Strip for the seventh consecutive day amid new displacement orders, threats to targeted hospitals, and the prevention of food and medical supplies.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces have been waging, with total US support, a devastating war on Gaza, resulting in approximately 139,000 Palestinian casualties, most of whom were children and women.
The Israeli occupation continues this aggression despite a UN Security Council resolution that called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
