For Palestinians in Gaza, talk of President Trump’s plan for the Strip barely registers. People here are far too overwhelmed by the struggle to survive another day under siege.
At dawn, many wake up with a single goal: finding water. Families walk long distances in search of something clean enough to drink, while others stand for hours, hoping a water truck will eventually reach their neighbourhood. The daily routine revolves around scarcity — not political proposals.
No one in Gaza expects Trump’s plan to bring immediate change. On the ground, nothing shifts for civilians overnight. The creation of yet another international committee means little to a population whose basic rights have been systematically denied for years. These bodies take months, even years, to produce anything tangible — and in the meantime, people are left to endure.
What Palestinians urgently need is simple and fundamental: safe, reliable access to food and water; protection from constant bombardment; functioning border crossings that allow movement, trade, and medical treatment; and, above all, a serious, transparent plan to rebuild their shattered homes and communities.
For a population exhausted by war and deprivation, abstract political schemes mean nothing without dignity, security, and the chance to live a normal life again.
