DaysofPal- Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for the Israeli occupation to halt its bombing campaign in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes persisted overnight, resulting in at least 63 deaths, including children, according to Palestinian health officials.
The strikes followed Hamas’s conditional acceptance of key elements of Trump’s 20-point peace plan, which includes an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the release of hostages, and humanitarian aid access.
However, Hamas has withheld complete agreement on certain aspects, such as disarmament, and has called for a national consensus on Gaza’s future governance.
The people of Gaza are enduring unimaginable suffering under relentless bombardment and repeated displacement. With every new airstrike, homes are destroyed and entire families are left homeless, forced to sleep under the open sky in overcrowded schools or makeshift tents that provide little protection from heat or cold. Nowhere in Gaza is safe, the bombing follows people into their homes, hospitals, and shelters, while shortages of food, water, and medicine grow worse by the day. Residents live amid loss and fear of the unknown, yet despite their pain and exhaustion, they hold on to faith and hope, believing that the dawn of freedom will rise no matter how long the night lasts.
Despite these diplomatic efforts, many Palestinians remain skeptical. For example, Ahmed Assad, a displaced Palestinian, expressed his frustration, stating, “Unfortunately, there is no translation for this on the ground. We do not see any change to the situation. On the contrary, we don’t know what action to take. What shall we do? Shall we remain in the streets? Shall we leave?”
The Israeli genocidal war has resulted in over 67,000 Palestinian deaths and continues to strain the region’s humanitarian situation.
As negotiations continue in Egypt, the international community watches closely, hoping for a resolution that brings lasting peace to the region.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza, backed by the United States, has resulted in 67,074 deaths, 169,430 injuries, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 459 Palestinians, including 154 children, according to local health authorities.
