Palestinians of all categories condemned on Monday, October 10, 2022, the extremist Israeli settlers who tore up and burned copies of the Holy Qur’an and threw them in a garbage container near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Hebron in the southern West Bank.
The Palestinians considered this crime a barbaric act and a war against Islam, a blatant assault and an insult to the feelings of nearly two billion Muslims around the world, as well as an insult to Islam and its holy book.
Palestinian authorities and institutions sent urgent calls to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Islamic countries, as well as the international community to move and stop these religious crimes committed by the Israeli occupation and its settlers in Palestine.
These parties emphasized that these abhorrent behaviors express a systematic Israeli racist discourse against Islam, which would stir up feelings of hatred and violence among people, and lead to a state of chaos and tension among them. They called for an end to such reckless attacks that affect the most prominent Muslim sanctities.
This is not the first time that these extremist Israeli settlers have attacked and desecrated Islamic holy books and holy sites, as they practice these crimes on an ongoing basis amid international silence towards these crimes.
