The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated Monday, May 29, 2023, that the Palestinian sick prisoner, Riyad al-Amour (53) from occupied Bethlehem, needs an urgent open-heart surgery.
Following his lawyer’s visit, the Israeli court stated that he had undergone 3 blood tests last week, and new tests will also be conducted for him during the next two days.
Al-Amour suffers from a problem with the internal valve of the heart, and needs a very urgent open-heart operation, noting that he underwent two open-heart surgeries in the past, the first was in 2010.
There are 4,900 Palestinians inside Israeli occupation prisons, including 400 who suffer severe and chronic illnesses, 31 women, and 500 administrative detainees.
In the absence of strong pressure to stop the systematic inhumane abuses, the racist and fascist policies of the Prison Service Administration have a negative impact on Palestinian detainees.
