Days of Palestine – Ramallah
The Palestinian prisoner, Khalil Awawda, (40 years), from the town of Idna, west of Hebron, has continued his hunger strike for 144 days, in refusal of his continued administrative detention, amid serious health conditions.
The Prisoner’s Club warned Wednesday, August 03, 2022 that the prisoner, Awawda, faces the risk of death in the Ramle prison clinic, in light of the lack of serious solutions to date regarding his case.
They explained that he suffers from severe aches in the joints, headaches, strong dizziness and blurred vision, and is unable to walk, and moves in a wheelchair.
They added that the occupation prisons administration deliberately transfers Awawda repeatedly to civilian hospitals, claiming that he undergoes medical examinations, but every time he is returned without conducting them, on the pretext that he has not reached the stage of danger.
It is noteworthy that the prisoner, Awawda, resumed his strike on 2/7/2022, after suspending it earlier after 111 days of the strike, based on promises to release him, but the occupation reneged on its promise, and issued a new administrative detention order against him for a period of four months, noting that He has been detained since December 27, 2021, when the occupation issued an administrative detention order against him for a period of six months, and his detention order was renewed for the second time for a period of four months, and it was confirmed for the entire period.
An appeal hearing was recently held for him, and no decision was issued.
