Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawdeh, 40, has been on hunger strike for 38 days in Israeli jails, protesting his administrative detention, without charge or trial.
Awawdeh, a father of four daughters, was kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces on 27 December 2021 and was placed under administrative detention.
Awawdeh is suffering acute headache and joint pain all the time and has lost 16 kg of weight after 38 days of hunger strike.
Israel’s policy of administrative detention allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
It should be noted that there are over 4,500 Palestinian political prisoners, including 31 women and 180 children, in Israeli detention imprisoned for their activism in the resistance to the Israeli occupation of their homeland.
