DaysofPal- A Palestinian police officer was killed on Monday in a targeted assassination carried out by Israeli agents in the Al-Mawasi area of Al-Qarara, west of Khan Younis, according to Palestinian authorities.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that the victim was the Director of the Investigations Department of the Khan Younis Police, Major Mahmoud Ahmed Al-Astal, 40, who was shot and killed in the Al-Mawasi area.
The ministry said initial investigations indicate that the shooting was carried out from a vehicle carrying several Israeli agents.
Security services have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify those responsible.
Eyewitnesses reported that gunmen in a car opened fire on Al-Astal, killing him at the scene.
Recently, Israeli special forces and collaborator networks have carried out several assassinations targeting security officers and resistance figures in the Gaza Strip.
