DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement announced that it has instructed all governmental bodies and institutions to prepare for the full transfer of administrative authority to an independent Palestinian technocratic body.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a televised statement on Sunday that the decision followed an announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding plans to establish a Peace Council for the Gaza Strip. He noted that Hamas has directed all institutions to be ready to hand over all administrative responsibilities to this body.
Qassem emphasized that the decision is final and unequivocal, stressing that clear instructions have been issued to facilitate a smooth handover process and ensure the success of the new authority.
He added that the move serves the higher Palestinian national interest and comes within the framework of implementing the plan that halted the war on Gaza under the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement.
In a related development, Hamas Political Bureau member Mohammed Nazzal said that a delegation from the movement traveled to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Sunday to discuss political and field developments in the Gaza Strip starting Monday. The talks also aim to follow up on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, which Nazzal said faces significant challenges, including continued Israeli violations.
Nazzal explained that the Hamas delegation is holding meetings with Palestinian factions and forces, in addition to discussions with Egyptian official bodies. These meetings focus on several files related to the agreement, foremost among them efforts to stabilize the ceasefire and advance toward its subsequent stages.
The latest statements align with earlier understandings reached among Palestinian factions. During a meeting held in Cairo on October 24, the factions agreed to transfer the administration of Gaza to a temporary Palestinian committee composed of independent figures and technical experts from within the Strip.
The factions also called for the adoption of a unified national strategy to revive the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and to ensure that it plays a leading role in the next phase.
