The Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Committee said on Sunday, September 4, that the Israeli occupation continues the crime of medical negligence as a tool to kill Palestinian prisoners, by letting diseases spread in their bodies until they die.
The committee explained in a press statement that the prisoners’ health problems at the beginning are simple and can be treated if health care is provided on time, but the prison administration deliberately ignores them for long periods, during which their health status are being more deteriorated.
It pointed out that hundreds of prisoners live a complicated life as a result of the various diseases they suffer from, such as cancer, heart failure, kidney failure, pressure, diabetes and others, in addition to psychological and neurological diseases.
The committee called on all international institutions to take responsibilities to see the conditions that prisoners live in inside prisons and isolation cells an act to stop Israeli violations against prisoners.
Yesterday, Saturday morning, the Prisoners Club announced the death of the Palestinian detainee, Musa Abu Mahamid, 40, in Assaf Harofeh Hospital, as a result of the medical negligence policy by the occupation prisons administration against sick prisoners.
The statistics of human rights organizations indicate that the number of detainees and sick prisoners in the prisons of the occupation is (550) cases, including chronic and serious diseases such as cancer. About 12 sick prisoners are held in the Israeli Ramleh prison clinic, 6 of whom are permanently detained.
In the same context, number of Palestinian prisoners died as a result of the policy of medical negligence reached (72), including 4 died prisoners in the year 2020.
