Palestinian detainee Shadi Ibrahim Qassem Amouri, 42, from Jenin camp, entered his 21st year in the Israeli occupation prisons today, Sunday, June 19th.
The director of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club in Jenin, Montaser Sammour, told “Wafa” that the detainee Amouri is sentenced to life imprisonment
He followed by saying that during Amouri’s imprisonment in Israeli jails, has been subjected to arbitrary punishment as well as perpetually being denied the right of visitation for years.
Shadi has been detained in a raid on Jenin camp shortly after Al-Aqsa Intifada ( also known as the second intifada) After being chased in several assassinations attempts during the Al-Aqsa Intifada, he is sentenced to life imprisonment, and is currently in Gilboa Prison
Amouri’s mother died after she prepared a house for him before fulfilling her dream of holding him free embrace.
Israel refers to captives during tensions not as “political prisoners” but rather as “security prisoners” and defines them as those who have been convicted and sentenced for a criminal offense or who have been detained on suspicion of committing an offense, when the offense, either because of its nature or its circumstances–in Amouri’s case during the Palestinian uprising– is defined as an obvious security offense or when the motives for committing it are nationalistic.
