Palestinian administrative prisoners are preparing for a mass hunger strike in Israeli prisons, the Ministry of Detainees and Ex-detainees revealed on Sunday, June 11, 2023.
The Ministry pointed out that hundreds of administrative detainees will start a hunger strike on Saturday, June 18, 2023.
It added that the Israeli Prison Service started early steps to suppress the prisoners and fail their demands, threatening them with a set of penalties.
“Palestinian prisoners are mainly demanding an end to their arbitrary detention,” the Detainees Ministry stated, adding that Israeli forces intensified the policy of administrative detention over the past months.
According to the Ministry figures, Israeli occupation authorities hold some 1100 Palestinians under administrative detention in its prisons.
In addition, Israeli occupation authorities have issued nearly 1300 administrative detention orders against Palestinians since the start of 2023.
