Palestine’s Taekwondo team player, Omar Hantouli, defeats his Laotian counterpart and reaches the quarter-finals of the Masters in the 19th Asian Games 2023 currently being held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou.
Palestine Olympic delegation taking part in this tournament consists of 70 persons who represent 16 individual and team games, including e-sports, the first of its kind in the Olympics history, marking the largest participation in Palestine’s external history.
In the inauguration ceremony held Sunday, September 24th, 2023, the Palestine team appeared on the stage raising their national flag, wearing Palestine armbands and with wide smiles on their faces, hoping that they could succeed in breaking the borders Israeli occupation created as a result of its apartheid policies.

Palestinians in the homeland and the diaspora have shown immense solidarity with their national team, publishing enthusiastic pictures and encouraging slogans using the hashtag #AsianGames2022.
The Games were supposed to be held in 2022 but were postponed due to China’s adoption of a zero-Covid policy.
China has been playing a positive role in helping occupied Palestine achieve internal reconciliation and opening its doors for Palestinian participation in China’s annual Olymics.
