Days of Palestine – Ramallah
A monthly report issued by the prisoners’ institutions revealed that the month of May 2021 witnessed a dangerous escalation in the repression and attacks launched by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in various parts of the country, specifically with the spark of the events that began in Bab al-Amud in Jerusalem on April 13, 2021, when the Israeli occupation forces began preventing Palestinians from being present in the Bab al-Amoud area, in conjunction with what is happening in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.
Events continued, as the confrontation escalated, to monitor massive repression and attacks, including massive arrests, that affected all groups, and continued to escalate, especially with the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, which lasted for 11 days, which prompted the Palestinian people in all their locations to go out to the streets to confront the policies of the Israeli occupation and its grave violations.
According to the follow-ups that took place during the month of May, the Israeli occupation authorities arrested 3,100 Palestinians, including 42 women and 471 children, from various regions as part of random and organized arrest campaigns.
The prisoners and human rights institutions (the Commission for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoner Club, the Addameer Foundation for Prisoner Care and Human Rights, and the Wadi Hilweh Information Center – Jerusalem) indicated in a report issued today, Sunday, that the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in the prisons of the occupation reached until the end of May 2021 about (5300) prisoners, including (40) female prisoners, while the number of minor child detainees in the occupation prisons reached about (250) children, of whom (81) were children from the occupied territories in 1948 who are still detained, and the number of administrative detainees reached about ( 520) arrested.
