Despite their coronavirus lockdown on the holy city, the Israeli occupation police allowed on Monday morning dozens of Jewish settlers to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque.
Since the morning hours of the first day of the lockdown, the Israeli police have been facilitating the entry of settlers to the Aqsa Mosque.
Jerusalemite activist Hanadi al-Halawani reported seeing settlers walking, running and jumping provocatively in the Mosque’s courtyards, which were empty of Muslim worshipers.
At the pretext of preventing the spread of coronavirus, the Israeli police imposed a tight lockdown on the holy city and announced a number of movement restrictions on the Palestinian local residents, such as “traveling more than 1,000 meters from home, except in special circumstances, is forbidden.”
Halawani expressed her belief that the real reason for such restrictions is to keep the Muslim worshipers away from the Aqsa Mosque and make way for Jewish settlers to freely enter and defile the Mosque.
She urged the residents of the Old City and other Jerusalemite citizens to visit the Aqsa Mosque in order not to leave the Islamic holy site abandoned during the Israeli lockdown.
