Israeli occupation forces Thursday overnight detained at least six Palestinians, including a journalist, from various parts of the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.
Israeli forces manning the Container checkpoint, northeast of Bethlehem city, stopped and rounded up two Palestinians from Jenin refugee camp.
One of the two detainees was identified as a former prisoner, while the other was beaten up before being detained.
Meanwhile, the family of a former prisoner from Bethlehem was informed by the Israeli intelligence that its member was held in custody inside Israel.
In Hebron district, Israeli military vehicles raided Sa‘ir town, east of the city, where soldiers rounded up a journalist.
Sources confirmed a similar military raid in Beit Ummar town, resulting in the detention of another.
In Bethlehem district, soldiers conducted a raid in Aid refugee camp, north of the city, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
