The Palestinian Health Ministry recorded 98 new coronavirus cases Wednesday in the densely populated Gaza Strip.
The ministry said, in a statement, the number of confirmed cases in the blockaded enclave rose to 581, including five deaths and 76 recoveries.
Late Wednesday, authorities in the Gaza Strip extended the lockdown for another 48 hours. Shops, government offices, educational and private institutions and mosques have been shut as part of the lockdown.
The ministry called on residents to pursue social distancing to help stem the spread of the virus.
